Matthew Hayden predicts the dark horse of T20 World Cup 2024.

Australia’s batting great Matthew Hayden has predicted the semi-finalists of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024. The marquee event is co-hosted by the United States of America and the West Indies. The T20 extravaganza kick-started on June 1 and as many as 7 games were done and dusted so far.

The former Australian swashbuckling opener was asked to pick his four semi-finalists for the T20 World Cup 2024 in an exclusive chat with Star Sports. According to him, Australia, England, India and South Africa are the four teams that will make it to semi-finals of the tournament.

Australia won the maiden T20 World Cup by beating New Zealand in the 2021 edition’s final. On the other hand, England won their maiden T20 World Cup by beating Australia in the 2010 final. The Three Lions won their second title by beating Pakistan in the 2022 edition’s final.

Team India won the T20 World Cup in the inaugural edition by beating Pakistan in the final. Since then, the Men in Blue failed to make a big bid for the second title. Last but not the least, South Africa are yet to win a T20 World Cup since the inception of the tournament.

Matthew Hayden predicts the dark horse of T20 World Cup 2024

The Australian cricket commentator who mentored Pakistan during the T20 World Cup 2022, picked the Green Shirts as the potential dark horse of the multi-team tournament. He reserved the highest respect for Pakistan for their premier fast-bowling attack.

“Pakistan is always the dark horse for a World Cup. Their fast bowling lineup is impressive with Shaheen Shah Afridi and Naseem Shah, who wasn’t available for selection in the last World Cup. His return is a big boost. Despite their fielding being a potential weakness, they’re a strong team and definitely one to watch in the T20 World Cup 2024,” Hayden concluded

Pakistan reached the finals of the T20 World Cup thrice in their cricketing venture. They won their maiden T20 World Cup title by beating Sri Lanka in the 2009 edition.
