Lucknow Super Giants have made a habit of bouncing back from the crunch situations to win the game. Punjab Kings looked well set on a course to the 5th win of the season after stopping Lucknow Super Giants for a below-par total of 153/8 in 20 overs.

However, Punjab Kings could only manage 133/8 in 20 overs while chasing the total to surrender the game by 20 runs.

Lucknow Super Giants locked horns with Punjab Kings in the 42nd match of the IPL 2022. Batting first, Lucknow Super Kings could not do much with the bat and managed only 153 runs in 20 overs.

Quinton de Kock and Deepak Hooda contributed with vital 46 runs and 34 runs, respectively. However, Dushmantha Chameera (17 runs) and Mohsin Khan (13 runs) gave the much-needed push to the Super Giants’ innings towards a respectable total in the end.

However, no one gave Lucknow Super Giants a chance at the break, given the batting firepower Punjab Kings have among their ranks.

Punjab Kings failed to chase a mediocre total

Chasing the total, Mayank Agarwal and Shikhar Dhawan made a solid start with 35 runs in 4.3 overs. However, Lucknow Super Giants bounced back in style with two quick wickets.

It instilled confidence among LSG’s bowlers and they kept chipping with wickets at the regular intervals. Jonny Bairstow and Liam Livingstone tried to steady the ship with a partnership in the middle but Mohsin Khan scalped the huge wicket of Liam Livingstone.

In the end, Rishi Dhawan fought a lone hand but no one could stick around the all-rounder to get closer to the target. Lucknow Super Giants have climbed to the 3rd place in the points table with six wins and three losses in nine matches.

On the other hand, Punjab Kings have slipped closer to the elimination as they are 7th in the points table with four wins and five losses after nine matches.

Twitter wasn’t pleased with Punjab Kings and thrashed the franchise badly after a dismal performance.
