Born on the 31st of October 1992 in Ludhiana, Punjab, India Inderbir Singh Sodhi made his test debut for New Zealand in October 2013 against Bangladesh, his ODI debut against Zimbabwe in August 2015, and his T20I debut against West Indies in July 2014. The leg spinner isn’t a big turner of the ball but he can surprise the batters with his faster ones and googlies. He can bowl quicker through the air and outsmart the batters with his length. Sodhi has claimed more than 300 wickets in first-class cricket which clearly highlights his ability as a wicket-taking option. His ability to adapt to different conditions is his biggest strength. he was the highest wicket-taker during the 2018-19 Plunkett Shield claiming 36 wickets. In his debut test, he scored 63 becoming the first number 10 batter for New Zealand to score a half century. Sodhi plays for the Northern Districts in New Zealand’s domestic cricket.
He has played for Worcestershire, Somerset & Nottinghamshire in the English County Championships. He has represented different franchises in various T20 Leagues including Rajasthan Royals in the IPL. He registered figures of 11/6 in 3.3 overs while playing for the Adelaide Strikers in the Australian Big Bash League. These figures are second best in the Big Bash League after former Sri Lankan pacer Lasith Malings’s 6/7.
