Finishers – Dinesh Karthik and Axar Patel
Dinesh Karthik has been really impressive in T20I series against South Africa as he managed to finish well in the second and fourth T20Is. The veteran wicketkeeper is likely to continue in his role as a finisher and he also is likely to wear gloves behind the stumps.
The Indian management might opt to continue with Axar Patel in the Ireland T20Is. The left-arm spinner has a knack for picking wickets while keeping it tight. He can also swing some lusty blows with the bat lower down the order.
With injury concern around Ravindra Jadeja’s fitness, the management must be looking to keep Patel ready for the upcoming mega-event. Moreover, with the presence of Hardik Pandya in the side, it is very unlikely that Venkatesh Iyer will find a spot in the XI as both are similar players.
