IPL 2024: 5 deserving players who did not get a single game

Some deserving players did not get a single game despite their skillset in IPL 2024.

The cash rich Indian Premier League has completed as many as 17 seasons since the inception in 2008. However, it is quite frightening to know that the batters have completely overshadowed the bowlers due to the flat and batting friendly pitches, shorter boundaries and fielding restrictions.

In the recently concluded tournament, batters had the time of their lives by playing shots with relative ease whereas that wasn’t the same case when it came to the bowlers. The majority of the bowlers struggled to produce a spark because they were not too pleased with the wickets.

As if that weren’t enough, some of the deserving players didn’t get to play in the team despite their skills and potential. It is no secret that each IPL team has a specific strategy to maintain such that it doesn’t impact the dynamics.

While some teams tried to maintain balance between batsmen, bowlers and all-rounders, the strategy didn’t turn out well. As it turned out, the deserving players didn’t make it to the playing XI in IPL 2024.

The West Indian all-rounder was brought on board for INR 50 lakhs by Lucknow Super Giants at the IPL 2023 auction. The Caribbean played superbly well with the bat, scoring 379 runs in 13 games at an exceptional strike rate of 144.11. Notably, he scored four half-centuries to his name.

Despite performing pretty decently well for the Lucknow-based franchise in IPL 2023, he could not get to play a single game for them in 2024 season. Quinton de Kock was in terrible form in IPL 2024 but still got the backing of the team management wherein he scored 250 runs in 11 matches.
