Sunrisers Hyderabad all-rounder Washington Sundar struggled to make an impact in the 2023 Indian Premier League season. He was expected to handle the lower-middle-order in the franchise but had a dismal season. In seven matches, he scored just 60 runs at an average of 15.00, and a strike rate of 100.00.

He also did not fare well with the ball, picking only three wickets at an economy rate of 8.26. Punjab Kings all-rounder Sam Curran was signed for a whopping INR 18.50 CR in the mini-auction ahead of the Indian Premier League 2023. However, he failed to justify the massive price tag this season.

In fourteen matches, he managed only 276 runs at an average of 27.60, and a strike rate of 135.96, with one fifty. In the bowling department, he took ten wickets and conceded runs at an economy rate of 10.22, with 3/31 as his best bowling figure this season.
