The 2023 Indian Premier League witnessed a batting mayhem from all the franchises. This season broke several batting records, including most 200plus scores in an Indian Premier League season. However amid the batting onslaught this season, some of the veteran bowlers proved to be assets for their franchises.

Gujarat Titans bowler Mohammed Shami won the Purple Cap this season, with 28 wickets, including two four-wicket hauls. Another bowler from the Gujarat Titans ranks, who was the outstanding with the ball, is Mohit Sharma. Marking his comeback in the tournament, he took 27 wickets in fourteen matches, with two four-wicket hauls and a fifer in the season.

The season witnessed another outstanding comeback, from spinner Piyush Chawla. The Mumbai Indians bowling leaked runs consistently, however, Piyush Chawla remained the skipper’s go-to-man this season. He took 22 wickets in sixteen matches, finishing as the leading wicket-taker for the Mumbai Indians, and the fourth overall.
