Lucknow Super Giants’ love for all-rounders is not hidden from anyone. Their squad is filled with multi-faceted players despite letting Jason Holder go ahead of the IPL 2023. However, the move makes a lot of sense as LSG needs a batting all-rounder rather than a bowling one.
Hence, the Lucknow Super Giants are likely to bid aggressively for Ben Stokes in the mini-auctions. They have a purse of INR 23.35 crore remaining and need to fill 10 slots, including four overseas slots. However, they need only one batting all-rounder for their playing XI and the rest of the slots are the back-up slots.
The move will make a lot of sense for the Lucknow-based franchise as they need someone at number four to control the proceedings. Ben Stokes’ presence will strengthen their batting unit and will also allow the likes of KL Rahul and Quinton de Kock to play an aggressive game at the top.
