Shreyas Gopal was signed by Sunrisers Hyderabad in the IPL 2022 for INR 75 lakh. However, the Hyderabad-based franchise gave only one game to Leggie throughout the season and then released him ahead of the IPL 2023.
Meanwhile, Mumbai Indians released both Mayank Markande and Murugan Ashwin from their squad and they currently don’t have a quality leg-spinner. The five-time champions need at least one leg-spinner and they might go after Shreyas Gopal.
Shreyas Gopal is an experienced IPL campaigner now, as he has picked up 49 wickets in 49 IPL matches. Furthermore, he had a decent Vijay Hazare Trophy 2022 with 12 wickets in 10 matches. There won’t be many quality leg-spinners available in the mini-auctions and Shreyas Gopal is likely to be in demand.
