IPL 2022: BCCI releases the playoffs schedule, games to be held in Kolkata and Ahmedabad

In the latest developments, the BCCI has announced the dates and the venues for the IPL 2022 playoffs, including the final. The playoffs will be played from 24th May to 29th May across two cities of Kolkata and Ahmedabad. The BCCI secretary Jay Shah confirmed the decision taken during the Apex Council meeting of the board the previous month.

The iconic Eden Gardens in Kolkata will host Qualifier 1 and the Eliminator on 24th and 25th May. Meanwhile, Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad will host Qualifier 2 and the final on 27th and 29th May.

Once the league stage will conclude on 22nd May, the teams qualified for the playoffs will fly to Kolkata in a bio-secure bubble. From there, the teams that will advance to Qualifier 2, and the final will fly to Ahmedabad.

Meanwhile, the BCCI has also announced the schedule for the Women’s T20 Challenge. The three-team event, including Trailblazers, Supernovas, and Velocity will be played at Pune’s MCA Stadium.

“I am pleased to announce that the Playoff Stage of the IPL 2022 will be held in Ahmedabad and Kolkata. The mega final will be held at Narendra Modi Stadium on May 29 along with Qualifier 2 on May 27. The Qualifier 1 and Eliminator will be played at the Eden Gardens on May 24 and May 25 respectively,” Jay Shah was quoted by the Times of India.

“The Women’s T20 Challenge resumes this year and Pune will host the fourth edition of the tournament. The dates of the matches will be 23rd May, 24th May, 26th May and the Final on 28th May,” he concluded.

Currently, the IPL league stage is being played across the four venues in Mumbai and Pune. We are fast approaching the playoffs as 48 out of 70 league games have already been concluded.
