IND vs AFG 2024: Team India’s strongest XI for the first T20I match against Afghanistan

The BCCI finally put all the speculations to rest when they announced Team India’s squad for the three-match T20I series against Afghanistan, which will get underway on Thursday (January 7).

The return of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli confirmed that they are into the scheme of things for the T20 World Cup 2024. The management would want to find all the answers as it will be the Men in Blue’s last T20I series before the mega-event.

Without any further ado, let’s look into the strongest XI that the hosts can field against Afghanistan:

Rohit Sharma is finally back in the T20I setup and will take charge once again. His return has confirmed that he will be captaining the side in the T20 World Cup and not someone else.

Though the right-handed batter is a proven star in the shortest format, he will once again have to show his worth. To pair up with him, Yashasvi Jaiswal is the front-runner even in the presence of Shubman Gill.

Barring a hundred, Gill’s international T20I career has been average. Yashasvi, on the other hand, can help the side with his aggressive style of batting. The benefits of the left-right combination will be a surplus.
