‘Fastest way to reach London’ – Parthiv Patel reacts to Barmy Army’s trolling of Virat Kohli

Former Indian wicketkeeper Parthiv Patel came forward to counter England’s Barmy Army after the later trolled Indian batter Virat Kohli for registering a duck against England on Sunday (Sept 29).

Kohli, who came in to bat in the 5th over, played some solid shots but at the hands of the fielders. The mounting pressure due to dot deliveries tempted him to try something out of the box. As a result, he stepped down off David Willey only to give a regulation catch to Ben Stokes.

The right-handed batter departed for zero and became the target of the internet trollers. Renowned English fans group, Barmy Army also capitalised on the moment to troll the former Indian skipper.

They pasted Kohli’s face on a duck and wrote the caption, “Just out for a morning walk”.

While they received backlashes from the Indian supporters, Parthiv Patel also stepped in to defend his countrymen. Pointing out at England’s World Cup exit, he posted a screenshot of an Air India flight which can help the defending champions reach London.

Team India remains unbeaten

The Rohit Sharma-led side continued their winning streak at the marquee event with a thumping 100-run victory over England. Despite posting only 229 on a decent track, the Men in Blue dominated the second half of the game.

The opening spells of Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Shami broke down England’s top order. Spinners Kuldeep Yadav and Ravindra Jadeja also joined the party later with effective bowling.

Team India currently sits at the top of the table with 12 points in six games. Their semi-final berth is confirmed and they will next lock horns with Sri Lanka on November 2 at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
