Former Indian captain Virat Kohli has slipped four places to be on the ninth spot in the latest ICC Test Rankings released on Wednesday. Kohli witnessed a lean patch with the bat against Sri Lanka that impacted his ranking.

Kohli managed to score only 81 runs across three innings against the Islanders with the highest score of 45 in Mohali. As a result, Virat Kohli has slipped to the ninth spot for the first time in the last few years. Pakistan skipper Babar Azam has advanced to the eighth spot.

The chart, meanwhile, is led by Australia’s Marnus Labuschagne followed by Joe Root, Steve Smith and Kane Williamson respectively. On the other hand, Dimuth Karunaratne has attained a career-best position of five after a fighting knock of 107 on a turning Chinnaswamy wicket, where batting looked extremely difficult.

Shreyas Iyer, who scored twin half-centuries in the second Test also took a giant leap of 40 places to sit on the 37th position in the latest ICC Test Rankings.
