WATCH: Babar Azam castles Alex Carey’s stumps with a stunning delivery
Pakistan captain Babar Azam is one of the best batsmen in the world across formats. He is known for his ability to score runs on a consistent basis, which is what makes him a special batter compared to the players of his team. Meanwhile, he is currently involved in the home series against Australia.
The Aussies who arrived in Pakistan for the first time in 24 years played the first Test in Rawalpindi recently. The Test opener ended in a boring draw as several people from cricket fraternity slammed PCB for preparing a flat wicket. Meanwhile, the second Test is taking place at National Stadium in Karachi.
Australian Test captain Pat Cummins won the toss and opted to bat first. The visitors bossed the first innings through and through as they aggregated 556/9 (declared). Usman Khawaja was the standout performer for the visitors as he scored 160 with the help of 15 fours and a six. Earlier, Khawaja scored 97 in the first Test against Pakistan.
Babar Azam picks his 2nd Test wicket
Steve Smith who scored 78 in the first Test scored 72 in the second Test. With Aussies dominating the game with their exquisite batting, Pakistan skipper Babar Azam was left clueless as he tried to experiment with all bowlers. However, at one point, the skipper himself decided to step into action.
He bowled only four overs where he managed to get rid of Alex Carey. Australia’s wicketkeeper-batsman was the second-best batsman for the visitors as he was en route to scoring a century. He scored 93 before getting dismissed by Babar Azam. The Pakistan skipper pitched the ball at the right line and length.

Sensing the delivery as an opportunity to play the shot, Carey attempted to sweep it in the hope of hitting it for a boundary. However, he was beaten all ends up as the ball went crashing onto the stumps. The hosts scored 45/1 at the end of Day 2 and they still trail by 511 runs. Imam-ul-Haq and Azhar Ali are batting on 20 and 11 respectively.
