WATCH: Virat Kohli falls prey to James Anderson’s bowling in Leed’s Test
Virat Kohli has been struggling for a while now.
Indian captain Virat Kohli hasn’t been at his fluent best with his batting technique. The 32-year-old stalwart lost his Midas touch of late. It’s really been a long time since he scored a century in international cricket. His last century came against Bangladesh in 2019.
He scored this century in a day-night pink ball affair at the iconic Eden Gardens. Since then, he chipped in with many fifty-plus scores but hasn’t managed to convert those knocks into fruitful milestones. However, he has thrived as a captain.
Coming to the ongoing five-match Test series between England and India, Virat Kohli got out for a duck in the first innings of the first Test. Although he chipped in with 42 in the second Test, he got out after scoring 20 in the second innings of the same Test.
James Anderson dismisses Virat Kohli at Headingley
The rivalry between James Anderson and Virat Kohli has been well and truly intriguing. During the first Test match, Anderson dismissed Kohli for a golden duck. The two stalwarts faced each other in the third Test match where Anderson once again got the better of Kohli.
Earlier, Team India got off to the worst start as they lost KL Rahul and Cheteshwar Pujara for cheap scores of 1 and 1 respectively. Captain Virat Kohli stepped out to bat alongside his partner Rohit Sharma. A lot was expected of them to deliver the goods.
James Anderson had other ideas in mind as he executed his plans to perfection and dismissed Kohli with a classic delivery. Anderson dismissed Kohli for the seventh time in Test cricket. The incident took place during the fifth ball of the 11th over when Kohli attempted to play a cover drive for a boundary.
Much to Kohli’s surprise, the ball turned at the last second and the batsman got a thick inside edge through to Jos Buttler behind the stumps. Kohli made his way back to the dressing room after scoring just 7. India didn’t recover after losing wickets early on.

Eventually, they were bowled out for just 78, which is their ninth-lowest total in Test cricket. It is also their third-lowest total in England.
