‘My fight is only on the field’ – Gautam Gambhir clears air while replying Virat Kohli related question

Cricketer-turned-commentator Gautam Gambhir has once again made it clear that he holds no grudges against countryman Virat Kohli off the field despite what happened on the field earlier this year.

In a clash between Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the IPL 2023, both of them shared a heated moment after the match and had to be separated by their respective teammates.

However, before the third ODI match between India and South Africa, when Gambhir was asked the name of the bowler against which Kohli completed his 50th ODI ton, he showed no hesitation in answering the question.

The 42-year-old showed a glimpse of his sharp memory by giving the right answer with a smile on his face. He also stated that the fight is only on the field. This left fellow expert Piyush Chawla pretty impressed.

Jatin Sapru asked, “Virat scored his 50th century in ODI against which bowler?”. “Lockie Ferguson. You show again and again that I remember everything. My fight is only on the field,” Gambhir replied.

Notably, Kohli smashed his record 50th ODI ton against the Kiwis at the Wankhede Stadium in the World Cup 2023 semi-final match.

Gautam Gambhir returns to KKR

After spending two seasons with LSG as a mentor, Gautam Gambhir made a splendid return to his former franchise Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) ahead of the IPL 2024.

His return has given a lot of hope to the KKR fans as they have been struggling to lift the title again since the 2014 season. The Kolkata-based franchise has won two times so far, both under the leadership of Gambhir.
