“Feeling so emotional” – Sanath Jayasuriya animated after Sri Lanka’s historic ODI series win over Australia
Legendary Sri Lanka opener Sanath Jayasuriya has congratulated the young Sri Lankan team after their historic win over Australia in the ongoing ODI series. On Tuesday, Dasun Shanka-led Sri Lankan team created history by taking an unassailable 3-1 lead after sealing the 4th ODI.
Australia are currently touring the island nation for three T20I, five ODIs, and two Tests. The visitors won the T20I series 2-1 but the Lankan side gave them a hard time set-up an enthralling ODI series. The Aussies began the ODI series on a positive note by winning the opening game, however, the home side bounced back in style by winning the next three games to complete the series victory.
Notably, it is Lanka’s first-ever victory over the might Aussies in an ODI series at home. Now, former Sri Lanka skipper and the destructive opener Sanath Jayasuriya has now congratulated the Sri Lankan team via a Tweet.

In case you don’t know, the Sri Lankan team entered the 4th ODI with a 2-1 lead. Batting first, they posted a total of 258/10 in 49 overs, courtesy of a century from Charith Asalanka.
In reply, Australia were on a course to complete the chase, riding on a brilliant knock from David Warner. However, Travis Head’s wicket triggered a collapse as the Aussies lost the last 6 wickets for 65 runs. Eventually, they were bundled out for 254 runs and the hosts won the game by 4 runs.
Subsequently, Sri Lanka are now 3-1 ahead in the five-match series, with the final ODI slated to be played on Friday.
