Odean Smith created a buzz with his all-around performances in the CPL 2021. It motivated Punjab Kings to break the bank for the Caribbean all-rounder as the franchise shelled out INR 6 crore to sign him.
However, Odean Smith failed to deliver the goods for the Kings from Punjab. The right-handed all-rounder failed with both bat and ball as he scored only 51 runs and 6 wickets in 6 matches. The Jamaica-born all-rounder gave away runs at an alarming run rate of 11.86.
Punjab Kings had high expectations from Odean Smith but the all-rounder could not deliver. Hence, the Mohali-based franchise could be inclined to release Smith as it would free up a massive amount of INR 6 crore for their purse.
