The explosive batter from West Indies was roped in by the Lucknow-based franchise for INR 2 crore. He was supposed to act as a back-up opener in the squad. However, he didn’t get any chances at the top thanks to KL Rahul and Quinton de Kock.
However, Lewis played six matches for the franchise at number three but failed to grab his chances. The West Indies batter scored only 73 runs in 6 matches at a strike rate of 130.35. Lucknow Super Giants have a back-up opener in Kyle Mayers who has been in better form than the former.
Furthermore, Lucknow Super Giants need a couple of quality batters in the middle order. Hence, they are likely to release Evin Lewis ahead of IPL 2023 as the move will free up a sum of INR 2 crore for their purse going into the auction.
