CSK will look a pick a fresh pool of players at IPL 2023 auction.
1. Ravindra Jadeja
It might be surprising for many, but Chennai Super Kings might release their superstar all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja ahead of IPL 2023. It’s no secret that things haven’t been well between the franchise and the all-rounder for a while now. He was expected to be CSK’s next skipper as the franchise announced him as the team’s new captain ahead of IPL 2022 after MS Dhoni stepped down from the captaincy to ensure a smooth transition.
However, things didn’t go as per plan for both parties as Chennai Super Kings had their worst-ever start in the Indian Premier League as the Yellow Army reached the verge of an early exit. Subsequently, Ravindra Jadeja’s performances also took a toll and the all-rounder could only manage 116 runs and 5 wickets in 10 matches.
Hence, the franchise sacked Jaddu as the captain and handed the captaincy back to MS Dhoni. Soon after, the all-rounder was ruled out of the rest of the IPL courtesy of an injury. Meanwhile, there were reports of a rift between Ravindra Jadeja and team management. Furthermore, since the conclusion of the last IPL, the rift between the two parties has only appeared to grow.
Chennai Super Kings retained Ravindra Jadeja as their first pick for an amount of INR 16 crore. It is a massive amount and the franchise will look to use this sum to bring in a couple of quality players to replace the outgoing superstar all-rounder.
