3 players whom Punjab Kings can target to replace Shikhar Dhawan

Shikhar Dhawan has retired from both international and domestic cricket on August 23. The experienced campaigner is all set to start a new chapter of his cricketing venture as he will be featuring in the Legends League Cricket (LLC) for the first time. He will be playing for the Gujarat Giants in in the upcoming season starting on September 20.

Meanwhile, Punjab Kings will be in the hunt for an experienced player to fill the gap left by Shikhar Dhawan in their squad. His exit has created a significant void and finding the right replacement won’t be that easy. However, the Mohali-based franchise will be looking to make the amends to strengthen their lineup in the upcoming season. Let’s take a look at the three players whom PBKS could target to replace the Gabbar.

1. KL Rahul

There are rumors and widespread speculations that KL Rahul might part ways with Lucknow Super Giants (LSG). During the IPL 2024 season, LSG owner Sanjeev Goenka was seen having an animated discussion with captain Rahul after a heavy 10-wicket defeat against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH).

This sparked speculation that Rahul could part ways with LSG. If that happens to be the case, PBKS could be the frontrunner to sign him at the auction. For the record, the Bengaluru-born cricketer has had prior experience with PBKS, having represented the franchise from 2018 to 2021.
